Smokeball, prefilled from the review
Finish the review and open the matter to find the work already done — layouts filled, contacts linked, the report filed in Documents.
The double-entry problem
The review is done, the report is sent — and then the same details get typed again. Address, title reference, price, deposit, settlement date, vendors, purchasers: out of the contract, into the matter, field by field. It is the least legal work in the whole file, and on a busy desk it is also where transposition errors creep in — a digit in the title reference, a date in the wrong field — that surface weeks later in a workspace document.
How the sync works
- 1
Connect once
Link your Smokeball account to Torri from settings. After that, any finished review can be pushed to a matter in a couple of clicks.
- 2
Push the review
Torri fills the Property Details and Conveyancing layouts from the contract it has already read — the address, title reference, price, deposit, settlement and parties — and creates the vendor and purchaser contacts, linked to the matter.
- 3
Find it in Documents
The final review PDF lands in the matter's Documents, and optional settlement events and memos can be added at the same time — only if you choose.
Built for NSW and Victorian matters
The fields come from a contract Torri has read in its own jurisdiction — a NSW contract for sale of land or a Victorian contract of sale with its Section 32 — so what lands in the layout is what the contract actually says, not a re-keyed approximation. The data you checked during the review is the data on the matter.
Where it fits your practice
Nothing about your Smokeball setup changes — same layouts, same workflows, same precedents drawing from the same fields. Torri just removes the typing between the review and the matter. You review what will be written before it is pushed, and nothing is created without your say-so.
Questions, answered
What does Torri fill in Smokeball?
The Property Details and Conveyancing layouts — address, title reference, price, deposit, settlement and the parties — plus vendor and purchaser contacts, linked to the matter. The final review PDF is uploaded to the matter's Documents.
Does it work for both NSW and Victorian matters?
Yes. The fields Torri extracts are pushed to the matching Smokeball layout fields for the matter, whichever state the contract is from.
Can it create settlement events and memos?
Optionally. You choose whether Torri adds settlement events and memos when it syncs — nothing is written to the matter without your say-so.
